INSAR Membership

INSAR membership is open to individuals engaged in academic or research activities, graduate students and post-doctoral researchers, and others vested in the study of autism.

 

INSAR membership dues cover a calendar year (January 1 - December 31) and are not based on when you join .

  • When joining INSAR mid-year, membership is only through the end of that year. 
  • For example, if you join in October, your membership will only be through December 31 of that year and you will get renewal notices for the following year.
  • Refunds will not be issued for dues payments made in error. We strongly advise members to thoroughly review all information prior to executing transactions. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter. 
  • To be eligible for reduced Member INSAR Annual Meeting registration rates, current membership is required at the time of registration. 

 

Low/Low Middle/ or Upper Middle Income Countries (LMIC): Individuals living and/or working in countries designated by the World Bank as Low, Low-Middle, and Upper-Middle Income economies qualify for reduced membership and Annual Meeting registration rates.

If you live or work in a Low/Low Middle/or Upper Middle Income Country your dues discount and waived application fee will automatically be taken off at the time of payment.

 

UK Members Tax Relief: As of November 2023, INSAR is listed on HMRC’s list of approved bodies (LISTED AS: Autism Research International Society for, with effect from 6 April 2023) and UK members employed in the profession of Autism Research can claim tax relief on their earnings. INSAR’s UK members may access the process for making. a personal claim for tax relief by visiting: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-income-tax-relief-for-your-employment-expenses-p87.

Full Member $220 USD/year

For Full membership, an individual must have a graduate degree from an accredited university, and are required to either: 

  1. have at least two publications in peer reviewed journals related to autism research, and/or

  2. have external funding for autism related research.

Full members have voting privileges. For new or rejoining Full Members, there is an application fee of $50 USD (waived for LMIC).

Low/Low-Middle Country: $10 USD

Upper Middle Income Country: $25 USD

Student Member $65 USD/year

Student applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, graduate, postgraduate, or postdoctoral training program involving autism related research at an accredited university. 

Post-baccalaureate / post-graduate status includes individuals who received a Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in the past 5 years and are active members of a lab (e.g. research assistants) with documentation from the student’s mentor. 

Student members have voting privileges. For new or rejoining Student Members, there is an application fee of $25 USD (waived for LMIC).

Required: upload to your profile, this completed, signed  INSAR Student Eligibility Form; procedures to UPLOAD HERE.  This form should be saved in your profile within 10-14 days from application submission.

Low/Low-Middle/Upper-Middle Income: No Cost

Early Career Member $110 USD/year

To qualify for an Early Career Membership, an individual must:

  1. have a graduate degree from an accredited university, and either a) have at least two (2) publications in peer reviewed journals related to autism research, and/or b) have external funding for autism related research

  2. completed their formal training (i.e. terminal degree, post‐PhD fellowship or post‐doctoral fellowship, medical residency, or other specialized training) within the past 10 years

Early Career members have voting privileges. For new or rejoining Early Career Members, there is an application fee of $25 USD (waived for LMIC).

Low and Low-Middle Income Country: No cost

Upper Middle Income Country: $20 USD

Affiliate Member $220/year

Affiliate membership status is available for non-students, including community stakeholders such as families and individuals living with autism, who do not (yet) meet membership requirements but wish to enjoy the benefits of membership.

Affiliate Members do not have voting privileges. For new or rejoining Affiliate Members, there is an application fee of $50 USD (waived for LMIC).

Low and Low-Middle Income Country: $10 USD

Non-Member (Guest Access)

An INSAR Profile is free to create and allows you to access non-member content, register for the Annual Meeting and other events throughout the year, as well as adding you to our distribution list for email announcements on Society news and ongoing activities.
