INSAR C-CAP Panel Session

The INSAR Cultural Diversity Career Advancement Program (C-CAP) is an initiative whose goal is to increase the amount of autism research from Low/Middle Income Countries (LMIC) and from underrepresented groups in High Income Countries (HIC). The initiative seeks to advance this goal through providing mentorship and ongoing training for researchers at all career levels – early career, mid-career, as well as those yet to fully launch research careers. Using collaboration and mentorship as a model for growth, the C-CAP Mentorship Initiative will provide a structure for professionals affiliated with INSAR and beyond to engage as Mentors and Mentees.

As part of the initiative, C-CAP aims to present webinars/panel sessions quarterly. In the past, as our goal has been to increase attendance from participants globally, including those in LMIC, these webinars and sessions are free, requiring only registration. Learn more about C-CAP.

Title: Ageing in Autism

The 2024 INSAR Institute for Autism Research is “Ageing in Autism.” This series will delve into the underexplored yet critical area of understanding how autism presents, evolves, and is experienced as individuals transition into older adulthood. The initiative aims to shed light on the unique challenges, needs, and opportunities faced by ageing autistic individuals, integrating diverse perspectives from research, clinical practice, and the lived experiences of the community. November

INSAR Global Senior Leaders Webinar - a focus on the Eastern Mediterranean Region*

Save the Date: 30th November 2024

Eastern Mediterranean region is witnessing a tremendous rise of research and practices oriented to persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

In fact, despite limitations in terms of resources, as well as relatively recent research experience, a lot of colleagues across the region are trying to conduct epidemiological and interventional studies, and exploratory research on topics relevant to the region: genetics, assistive technology, parents mediated interventions, often in collaboration with western centers or as part of multicentric studies.

Although a large body of this practice and research relies on evidence based principles and international guidelines, the region, underserved in terms of services and resources, can easily experience implementations of non evidence-based practices and overtly profit oriented interventions.

As INSAR is willing to promote optimal practices and to make the research findings accessible for the largest number of researchers, practitioners and patients and their families, it has set as part of its strategic plan a goal of ensuring that autism research has a broad impact on society, reflected in a strategic initiative to “disseminate science-based knowledge to inform research priorities, policy, professional practice, and public understanding.”

This webinar is meant to reflect the existing dynamism of autism research and innovation in the MENA region and to help connecting researchers and professionals for a better regional collaboration and facilitate access to international science-based initiatives

Researchers, clinicians, professionals involved with ASD in the fields of health, education, social services, decision making and planning, advocacy and awareness, patients and their families are invited to attend and enrich the debate and  promote better practices for the region
