Membership Applications Will Reopen on May 20th, 2014

* The deadline to join or renew as member for IMFAR 2014 was March 17, 2014. If you are not currently a member, you may register at the nonmeber rate. Membership applications and payments will open following the meeting.

INSAR membership dues cover a calendar year (January 1 - December 31) and are not prorated.  As a new member, when you pay membership dues you are paying through the end of the current year. See application periods below for more details.
 

INSAR membership will be open to individuals engaged in academic or research activities (full members), graduate students and post doctoral researchers (student members) and others (affiliate members) vested in the study of autism spectrum disorders (ASDs).

Currently the benefits of Membership entail the following:

  • Free abstract submission to annual IMFAR meeting
  • Reduced registration fee for annual IMFAR meeting*
  • Eligibility to chair a Special Interest Group (SIG)
  • Eligibility to apply for IMFAR Travel Awards**
  • Free audio/video files of select IMFAR presentations (Keynotes, Educational Symposium, etc)
  • Online subscription to Autism Research journal
  • Ability to vote and run for elected office in INSAR
  • Eligibility to participate on INSAR committees and serve as an abstract reviewer
  • Submit job postings for the INSAR Web site (postings can be viewed by all visitors)
  • Online membership directory

In order to qualify for membership, fees must be paid annually and an initial application must be submitted online. All applications are reviewed by the INSAR Membership Committee. Allow 4-6 weeks for application review and processing, but you may pay your dues at any time.

** To be eligible for INSAR Travel Awards, you must be an approved and paid INSAR member at the time of application.  

Application Periods for INSAR

Effective January 1, 2014 INSAR is instituting a $50 new member application fee for Full and Affiliate Members and a $25 application fee for Student Members. 

New membership applications will be accepted online January 1 - March 17th, 2014 and May 20 - December 31, 2014 for the 2014 membership year. You need to be a current member in 2014 to register for the conference at the member rate.

Membership Dues Structure for Developing Countries

Effective January 1, 2014 INSAR has introduced a reduced membership dues structure for individuals residing in select developing countries. Please review the World Bank list of low, lower middle and upper middle income countries and the chart below  to determine your payment amount for your 2014 membership dues.

To pay INSAR membership dues for 2014, complete the payment form and fax it to 860.586.7550 attn. Kate Flaherty. The paper payment form is required as this dues structure is not yet setup in myINSAR. The membership application fee will be waived for individuals residing in low, lower middle, and upper middle income countries.

Membership Types

Student Membership $50

For student membership, the individual must be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or post graduate program involving autism related research at an accredited university.
This membership type is a voting member.

Full Membership $100

For full membership, an individual must have a graduate degree from an accredited university, have publications in peer reviewed journals related to autism research, and/or have external funding for autism related research. In addition, an individual may have other scientific credentials that they wish to submit to the membership committee for review. This membership type is a voting member.

Affiliate Member $100

Affiliate membership status is available for non-students, including community stakeholders such as families and individuals living with autism, who do not (yet) meet membership requirements, but wish to enjoy the benefits of membership, save voting privileges.
